Purpose:
The purpose of the Economic Development Department is to enhance the quality of life in Beaumont through job retention and creation efforts. The Department is also responsible for maintaining the City's general plan and development code, and for using these documents as a guideline for the development of programs which will meet the community's current and future needs. Preparation of  studies for the proposal of land use changes and special studies which use land use, economic, transportation and other community related issues and concerns.

Programs and Functions:
  1. Retain current and recruit potential employers to the City of Beaumont.
  2. Ensure that development in the community produces the maximum benefit to the City and its citizens.
  3. Ensure that commercial and industrial uses and related developments enhance the quality of life and provide a stable economic base for the community.
